Hey everyone, I salute you friends, good day!
I hope the back-to-school-ness of second semester hasn’t depressed you too much and y’all are getting back into the joys of PE, freshmen and lovely school bathrooms.
Aside from the resuming of classes, I know its extremely late but New York, New Jersey and surrounding areas were faced with Hurricane Sandy which left a huge impact on many parts of New York as most of you know. Notably the Rockaways and Breezy Point and its extremely important that we STILL do what we can because people still need help. This can be donating to hurricane relief or going down to the affected locations and helping out. My family and I went down to Rockaway a while back and the devastation was awful. It looked like the apocalypse and trash, rubble and tree branches were everywhere. We boxed provisions and gave them out to folks that needed them. It was actually really awesome to see how many people were there helping out and how many people cared. There has been an extreme amount of progress since the hurricane despite the damage done and it is very inspiring to see the city rebuild itself but there’s still a lot of work that needs to be done. Thankfully, my family and I were out of town in New Orleans during the hurricane. It was ironic that I happened to be spending the weekend in a city that was still in the process of rebuilding after the destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. I was in Nola around Halloween so New Orleans really went all out. There’s an insane amount of culture there, especially the music scene and the food was incredible. I had a ton of fun. I also saw two GREAT films. Argo was crazy!!! It had me on the edge of my seat the entire time; the tension was amazing. I am pretty sure I didn’t breathe once during the movie and at the end it felt like one big exhale.
I also saw Pitch Perfect….I know…I know. In all honesty I was entertained the entire time and laughed a lot. It’s a great movie to watch with your friends if you’re not in the mood to think that much.
On the fashion front, being in school and concentrating on my studies has affected my style over the past few months. I’m not going to lie, I tend to gravitate more towards comfort mostly because I have no time to worry about clothes. I think it’s important for all of us to remember that while fashion is an art form and a beautiful aspect of our world, we must first and foremost be comfortable and at ease with our daily attire how ever cheesy that may sound. Whatevahh. Who doesn’t like cheese?
That’s all for now, gotta get back to studying. I hope y’all had a sweet new year and I wish you guys happiness and success in the year of 2013 hayyyyyyy.
