Jason Derulo this afternoon and had the chance to listen to some new music, and talk fashion. All Hail The Queen!!! Who watched the Billboard Music Awards last night?! We were freeaaakkingg out over Madonna, her amazinggg outfit and of course, her three awards!
In case you were sleeping under a rock or something, check out Madonna accepting the award for Best Touring Artist. Will I Am said, “Madonna, the legendary superstar who has earned this years ‘Top Touring Artist’ title, has always been a woman on top. How does she stay on top? By always being one dance step ahead. She is always reinventing her image and delivering classic hits that make us dance, makes us think, and that’s what makes us love her even more.” Couldn’t have said it better ourselves!
It seems that the inspiration for this blog has come to me in the locker room of my dance studio. I know that sounds weird…. The weather is acting like a thirteen year old who has recently discovered her menstrual cycle. Meaning it’s a good 75° outside but due to the rain, layers of impermeable clothing are necessary, thus making me clam up like no other. It’s getting hotter, school is getting harder, hair is getting frizzier, but summer is coming so it makes it completely worth it.
I know many of you understand me when I say it feels like everything important is suddenly showing up at the same time: SAT, SAT2, ACTs, Finals, Graduation etc. I think the only way to really survive is to take it day by day and not let your thoughts float out around you. You will drive yourself crazy. SO, I know it passed but I hope y’all planned a lil sumin sumin for the lady who birthed you; Mama’s day is very important and should be appreciated. They are the reason you are alive, something we should all remember. I personally like to gift my mother with a popsicle stick doll every year but if you wanna do something fancier that works too I guess. I wear essentially the same tone of clothes all year round. Pretty dark browns and black. Crop tops in winter, boots in summer, things like that.
One thing I DO get bored of quite quickly is the hair on my head. Every summer I’m tempted to chop it all off because of the heat but I know that would result in my head on the chopping block from di motta. I like to experiment with colors though, I did it teal recently but its faded to a more pond water green. Great! Thanks manic panic.
Music I’ve been listening to lately is more relaxed than I would usually go for. Kind of mood music-ish , some good relaxing tunes. I LOVE CAT POWER. She is the man. Her new album is of course amazing but my most favorite songs by her are “Metal Heart” and “The Greatest”. Definitely Definitely check into those for some sweet summer jams (what did I just say?)
I SAW THE GREAT GATSBY HALALALALALALALAALALALA OH MY GOD OH MY GOD IT’S A REALLY BIG DEAL. No but it was actually so valid. I really enjoyed it and thought it really captured a lot of the important symbolism from the book. The costumes were by far the best part. Everyone looked great all the time. Literally there was not one boring costume. It totally enhanced the entire vibe of the movie with all the colors and lace and sparkles and such. I recommend the movie, but of course , opinions are strong because it is considered the greatest American novel of all time.
Also, on a side note, I’ve recently developed a liking for Parks & Recreation. It’s so clever. I don’t have a favorite character, but I can just watch episode after episode and not get tired of Amy Poehler & her crew love.
Anyways, hope you survive the rest of the school year. Summer is right around the corner.

Madge reminded everyone last night that she will always be the queen of fierce style! The Givenchy Haute Couture heavy metal jacket with studs and chains was perfectly paired with shredded fishnets, hot pink pumps (soo MG), and her pitch black wig to top off the look that stole the night.
